The silent lull between our day classes has returned. All reminisces of our kids summer camp are gone. The last of the hidden abandoned juice box and matchless socks have been found and disposed of. Last week was a crazy whirlwind of fun and training. Gracie Jiu Jitsu Carlsbad and Gracie Jiu Jitsu San Marcos together have just completed their yearly kids summer camp.
This year we had an interesting demographic that was different from what we have had in previous years. Normally, when Gracie Jiu Jitsu San Marcos has a kids camp we have kids of all age groups and they are pretty well spread evenly. This year we had two distinct groups. We had the older teenage group and the younger little ninjas group.
I spent a lot more time with the older group. Half the group was experience while the other half knew nothing. The whole group was excited to be there and learn some self defense. Within the first hour all the teenagers started to let down the “to cool” attitude and started to make friends. We spent a lot of time doing Jiu Jitsu, Muay Thai, Wrestling and Boxing. The hardest part with this group was to get them to stop training and take a break. You can tell they were all very excited to learn Jiu Jitsu and the other martial arts. They all worked so hard to and I can tell how much they learned by the last day.
The younger group were having a time of their life. We use Gracie Jiu Jitsu games along with amazing techniques to help them learn self defense. Its because of these activities that the kids love to train. The time in class and training becomes a time to play with their friends and learn at the same time. Starting Jiu Jitsu from a young age is a great way to give your kid a head start in life. The life lessons and body awareness learned while doing Jiu Jitsu is unlike anything else.
Beach Days! Every year we spend a few hours at the beach during our Gracie Jiu Jitsu San Marcos summer camp. We worked out and trained on the beautiful beach. It is an amazing day when you can train in the sun. We worked on our wrestling and Muay Thai clinch. We also made sure we found time to play in the water as well.
Bounce house! On the final day we had a 50 ft bounce house for all the kids to play in. They all worked so hard all week we made sure to finish on with a good time. Gracie Jiu Jitsu San Marcos and Carlsbad want to thank everyone who participated in the summer camp this year. We look forward to doing another one next summer!
